While contemporary action films are the core inspiration for Everyday Heroes, that’s far from the only genre you can play. We wanted to make a game that could easily work for westerns, zombie apocalypses, horror, science fiction, action comedy, gritty war films, and everything in.
While contemporary action films are the core inspiration for Everyday Heroes, that’s far from the only genre you can play. We wanted to make a game that could easily work for westerns, zombie apocalypses, horror, science fiction, action comedy, gritty war films, and everything in between. So Everyday Heroes is a game system that supports a large range of play styles and settings.
The core game mechanics in Everyday Heroes are based on 5e, the most popular and well supported tabletop RPG system around today. We did this because it's a system millions of players already know. This makes jumping into Everyday heroes quick and easy, and also means it's pretty easy to find people to play with. It also lets you easily bring in components from other games, or use Everyday Heroes content in other 5e games.
That said, Everyday Heroes is not just a copy of 5e rules, it has many design innovations and ideas that make it unique and extra fun to play. Everyday Heroes was designed to be a modular roleplaying system. We knew we would be supporting a huge range of settings and that not every rule makes sense in every setting.
Our Foundation Rules lay out the basic framework of the game, and the most versatile and iconic options for making modern heroes. The Foundation is a great place to start learning the game. The Everyday Heroes Core Rules are the deluxe version of the game, but still focused on the genre of modern action films. Our Extended rules include every rule and option we have ever published and represent a vast set of tools for bringing any world of your imagination to life.
